"We Need Food, Not Tobacco"

                 The World No Tobacco Fortnight '23 was recently held at RVS Dental College & Hospital, organised by the Departments of Public Health Dentistry, Oral Medicine and Radiology, and Oral Pathology & Oral Microbiology. This impactful event took place from May 31^st to June 13^th 2023, encompassing a range of engaging activities both offline and online.

                 One of the highlights was the grand rally held on June 2nd, 2023, led by our esteemed Retired IG, Mr. Paari, CAO, RVS Educational Trust and our respected Director of RVS Educational Trust, Dr. Vijay. The rally commenced at the Government Hospital in Sulur, where the flag was waved to mark the beginning of this significant occasion. Over the course of two hours, the faculty and students passionately spread awareness in Sulur by distributing informative pamphlets, performing captivating flash mobs, delivering empowering speeches, and administering an oath to the public. The rally concluded at Sulur New Bus Stand, leaving a lasting impact on all who participated.

                   Following the rally, the students were encouraged to participate in a series of engaging offline and online competitions, all centred on the theme "We Need Food, Not Tobacco". On June 5^th, 6^th and 7^th 2023, the college premises was buzzed with artistic display of events such as Face Painting, Slogan Calligraphy and Rangoli. The winners were chosen based on their creativity in conveying the message alongside the theme, showcasing the remarkable talent and dedication of the participants.

                   Further on June 8^th and 9^th online events like reels and meme creating competition took place. Moreover, a thrilling theme-based treasure hunt was organised on June 10th, 2023. Participants were assigned tasks that required them to create awareness among students from various other colleges on our campus, transforming the game into an effective means of spreading the message. The one-hour event took place at strategic locations such as the College's Food Court, RVS Technical Campus, and RVS College of Engineering and Technology, ensuring maximum impact and engagement.

                   Lastly, to further amplify the campaign's reach, online events were held, including poster presentations, educative memes and reels creation, and a short film competition. These activities provided a platform for participants to showcase their creativity and raise awareness about the hazards of tobacco use. The competitions concluded on June 13^th, 2023 and the eagerly anticipated prize distribution ceremony is scheduled for June 19^th, 2023.

                   The World No Tobacco Fortnight '23 at RVS Dental College & Hospital was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on the community. Through a combination of rallies, competitions, and informative campaigns, the event effectively conveyed the message that choosing food over tobacco is crucial for a healthier future.
