WORLD ORAL HEALTH DAY - 2022

‘Is the theme for the “World Oral Health Day 2021-2023”. It encourages people around the world to make promise to look after their oral health with proper oral hygiene practice. The FDI launched World Oral Health Day in 2007. The day was originally celebrated on 12th September in remembrance of FDI founder, Dr. Charles Godon. Later it was changed to 20th March in 2013 to avoid conflict with the FDI world dental congress in September. World Oral Health Day - 2022 objective is to create awareness about the importance of maintaining good oral health. It aims to bring down the burden of oral diseases across the globe.
It is a special day for each one of us, as we are the guardians of the mouth. We had organized various health promotion programs keeping in mind the theme as mentioned by the “FDI”. The day started with a rally. The introductory speech was given by Dr.Mohan Gundappa, MDS., Director, RVS group of Institutions, followed by Dr.Ranjana Mohan MDS, Professor emeritus, department of periodontics.
The gathering was addressed and glorified by Dr.Col.Cap R.G.K.Shet MDS., Principal, RVS Dental College & Hospital. He also commenced rally through waving the flag. A short health talk was rendered in Tamil and English by the interns. They also distributed oral health awareness pamphlets to the walkers and explained about it. The students who participated in the rally also sounded with slogans related to oral health, habits, dentition, diet, dental caries and periodontal disease.
Followed by rally, oral screening program was conducted. Brushing techniques where demonstrated and oral hygiene instructions were given to the audience. E-slogan’s and E-posters competitions are also conducted on behalf of world oral health day. E-certificates are awarded to the winners.
