The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) organized the Memorial Day of Late Dr. Vigneshwaran Sir- Head of the Department, department of OMFS on 20th July 2026 at the Smt. Padmavathy Ammal Auditorium. The event was conducted to honor the cherished memory and remarkable contributions of the late Head of the Department, Dr. Vigneshwaran Sir, whose dedication and commitment continue to inspire students, colleagues, and the dental fraternity.
The memorial programme was graced by the presence of Dr. Vigneshwaran Sir's family members, friends, faculty members, postgraduate and undergraduate students, who gathered to pay tribute and celebrate his enduring legacy.
Our Guest Speaker,Dr. Chandramohan Sir, Professor and Head, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, KSR Institute of Dental Sciences and Research, Tiruchengode, delivered an informative and engaging lecture on "Medical Emergencies", emphasizing the importance of early recognition, prompt intervention, and effective management of medical emergencies encountered in dental practice. The session provided valuable clinical insights and enhanced the knowledge of students and faculty alike.
As part of the commemorative programme, a Prize Distribution Ceremony was conducted to recognize and encourage academic excellence and professional skills among students of the Department of OMFS. Awards were presented to:
• Overall Academic Toppers (2024–2025) in both Postgraduate and Undergraduate categories.
• Winners of the Quiz Competition.
• Winners of the Poster Competition.
• Winners of the Suture Competition.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, the family members of Late Dr. Vigneshwaran Sir, faculty members, students, and all participants for making the programme a memorable and meaningful tribute. The memorial day served as a fitting homage to Dr. Vigneshwaran Sir's invaluable contributions to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and reaffirmed the department's commitment to academic excellence and professional growth.
