The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, in association with the Department of Periodontics, conducted an interdisciplinary meet on the topic “Endodontic Management of Periodontally Compromised Teeth.” The session aimed to enhance the understanding of the diagnosis and management of endo-perio lesions and the importance of interdisciplinary treatment planning.
The program commenced with an introduction to the topic by interns Dinesh, Dhivya, Dhanishta, and Ezhilarasan, who discussed the fundamentals of endodontic-periodontal relationships.
This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Mangaiyarkkarasi, who elaborated on the diagnostic procedures and treatment planning
Dr. Divyakshita continued the session by discussing the treatment protocol for endodontic management of periodontally compromised teeth.
A detailed case presentation was subsequently delivered by Dr. Sharnika, highlighting the clinical findings, treatment sequence, and outcome of a patient. The periodontal aspect of the case was discussed by Dr. Jayasakthi, who explained the periodontal diagnosis, therapeutic interventions, maintenance protocols, and the role of periodontal therapy in improving the long-term prognosis of the tooth.
The presentation facilitated a better understanding of the practical challenges encountered during management.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion, during which participants clarified their doubts and shared their perspectives on the multidisciplinary management of endo-perio lesions.
